At the International WingSports Association (IWSA), we aim not only to protect our seas and natural environments but also to foster positive change in the communities we touch through our global events. By promoting sustainable practices and engaging with local communities, we hope to leave a lasting, positive impact that extends beyond the sport.

The International WingSports Association (IWSA) has officially joined the Clean Class Initiative, committing to sustainability in their WingFoil Racing World Tour. The IWSA was founded to give the best wing riders a platform to compete in fair competition, managed by World Sailing International Race Officials. The World Tour comprises of a wide range of events, from local, regional and continental up to the elite WingFoil Racing World Cups, creating a pathway for development and growth at the grassroots level while showcasing a young, exciting expression of sailing at the top end. Their ambition and dedication to the next generation of sport includes prioritizing sustainability.
The WingFoil Racing community is fast-growing and developing around the globe. It is young, inclusive, and combines the informality and vibrancy of the beach with the top elite sport of sailing, presenting an exciting new opportunity to connect with new athletes and a new generation of sports fans.
History
After seeing the WingFoiling discipline emerge at the end of the last decade, an international association was formed to govern the sport and represent athletes. There was a strong demand from stakeholders around the world to organize and govern the sport properly from the very beginning to ensure safe and fair competition in compliance with the established rules of World Sailing. The IWSA constitution was approved together with the class rules for the Wing Foil Class, and the appointment of an interim Executive Committee, during their inaugural meeting in March 2021.
Winging can be see as a crossover between windsurfing, kiteboarding, sailing and standup paddling, and the initial participants in the sport came equally from these communities. Now integrated within World Sailing, the Class is in its fifth year, hosting elite competitions around the globe.
