Best Practices Achieved
1. Eliminate Single-Use Water Bottles and Provide Water Refill Stations
This year's show featured three water bottle refill stations and all exhibitors were discouraged from bringing single-use water bottles.
3. Serve Food with Plastic-Free Dinnerware
The VIP Tent was stocked exclusively with biodegradable (bamboo) dinnerware.
4. Skip Bags or Go Reusable
Our sponsor LaVictoire provided reusable tote bags which were handed out at the front gates by our staff.
6. Publicize Your Sustainability Efforts
Our sustainability efforts were laid out in press materials, press releases, videography, and our show guide.
9. Serve Local Food or Source Seafood Sustainably
Along with local alcohol products, we worked with Sea Table DC and Nautiste to provide an on the water dining experience that highlighted locally raised oysters with a specific focus on preserving our estuary. The tours were premium dining experiences hosted on an electric powerboat. There wew also blue catfish cooking demos from the Maryland Department of Agriculture.
7. Involve Local Organizations
We worked with CCA MD and the Maryland Department of Agriculture to provide our attendees with a demo on cooking invasive blue catfish.
11. Ensure Proper Waste Bin Placement and Signage
All refuse bins were accompanied with blue recycling bins where possible - recycle bins featured an infographic to display what can be recycled in Anne Arundel County as well as a limited opening to prevent contamination of misplaced trash.
20. Encourage Green Boating Practices
This year we featured more electric boats than ever before at the powerboat show, with added emphasis going towards our Demo Dock - allowing attendees to test drive electric boats.
