Best Practices Achieved
1. Eliminate Single-Use Water Bottles and Provide Water Refill Stations
1- All sailors used reusable water bottles. No single-use water bottles were available for participants.
2- No plastic straws were used for the Regatta.
3 - Not completed - compostable plates used, but not enough silverware available and we needed to use back up plastic dinnerware from prior event.
4 - No bags used for lunches or trophies
5 - Practical awards given to top 5 finishers - Engraved grilling utensils and pocket flashlights awarded
6- Discussed "Clean Regatta" goals during all Regatta announcements, posted information regarding "Sailors for the Sea" in public areas. (could we earn qualification for section 8 with this?)
11 - Recycling vs waste bins clearly marked for participants.
13 - All event communications posted online via Club spot. No printed copies of SIs or NOR provided to participants
17. Vegetarian options provided at all meals.
20. Encouraged other regattas in our South East Thistle Fall Series to participate in Sailors for the Sea Clean Regatta designation.
